Missouri State University’s Spring Commencement: Celebrating 2,625 Graduates Ready to Make Their Mark!

Missouri State University is gearing up for its spring 2026 commencement, where 2,625 degrees will be awarded over three ceremonies on May 8 at the Great Southern Bank Arena. The times are set for 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Each ceremony will highlight students from different fields.

In the first ceremony, Madelynn Jared, a soon-to-be graduate in Marketing and a holder of a certificate in Food and Beverage Operations, will speak. The second ceremony features Lana Janson, who will graduate with a degree in Physics and a certificate in Computational Science. Additionally, the university will honor alumna Mimi Garstang with a Doctor of Public Affairs degree.

Maddux Radosevic will represent the third ceremony, graduating with a degree in Journalism and a Communication minor.

The breakdown of degrees shows that Missouri State will confer 1,881 bachelor’s degrees, 631 master’s degrees, 104 doctorate degrees, and nine specialist degrees in education. Among these graduates, 51 have completed a more challenging program through the university’s Honors College.

Academic achievement is a key focus during graduation. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or above will receive special recognition. Specifically:

  • 223 will graduate summa cum laude (GPA 3.9-4.0)
  • 256 will graduate magna cum laude (GPA 3.75-3.89)
  • 385 will graduate cum laude (GPA 3.5-3.74)

Graduation is a significant milestone, both personally and professionally. Recent studies have shown that graduates often report improved job prospects and higher earnings compared to non-graduates. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, those with a bachelor’s degree earn about 66% more per week than those with only a high school diploma.

Commencement not only marks the end of an educational journey but also opens doors to new opportunities and experiences. For many, it’s a time of reflection on hard work and determination. Whether it’s in science, arts, or business, graduates are ready to face the world.
