Modi Celebrates Indian Diaspora: Key to Strengthening India-Netherlands Friendship

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently acknowledged the vital role of the Indian community in the Netherlands. Speaking in The Hague, he praised their contributions to both Dutch society and the growing friendship between India and the Netherlands.

Upon his arrival, PM Modi received a warm welcome from a large gathering of the Indian diaspora. He emphasized their role in various fields like technology and education, stating that these professionals and students are strengthening ties between the two nations.

The Prime Minister highlighted the expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in technology and innovation. He pointed out that the Netherlands is one of India’s top trading partners in Europe. In fact, approximately 11% of India’s exports to Europe are sent to the Netherlands. He also mentioned that upcoming trade agreements would open new avenues for collaboration.

Looking to the future, PM Modi has a vision for India to become a developed nation by 2047, dubbed “Viksit Bharat.” He outlined India’s rapid transformation across sectors like infrastructure, clean energy, and digital technology, all of which contribute to global growth.

PM Modi reassured the diaspora that the Indian government supports them, urging them to use their experiences in the Netherlands to assist in this development journey. The community is particularly significant, with around 200,000 Indian origin residents in the Netherlands, including many from the Surinamese-Hindustani background.

In today’s interconnected world, the Indian diaspora plays a crucial role in fostering international ties, both economically and socially. As they continue to thrive abroad, their contributions can pave the way for stronger global collaboration.
