Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted these benefits, stating they will reduce waiting times for trains and allow more freight to move efficiently from place to place. Many of these rail routes are crucial for India’s energy and minerals sector, making the improvements vital for economic growth.
Alongside these projects, Indian Railways is also moving towards safer operations by installing Electronic Interlocking systems at key stations. This technology enhances signaling efficiency, ensuring trains can move safely and swiftly. It will help align with Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems, which are crucial for passenger safety.
According to the latest report from the Indian Railways, the installation of these systems is expected to cut down train delays significantly. Improved safety and reduced waiting times could lead to better service for over 23 million passengers who use the railways daily.
