The Florida Board of Governors has officially appointed Moez Limayem as the ninth president of the University of South Florida.
This decision came after a unanimous vote by the board, primarily made up of members chosen by Governor Ron DeSantis. Limayem is currently leading the University of North Florida.
At the announcement, Limayem expressed gratitude. “I came to this country from Africa with humble beginnings, believing in education’s power to transform lives. I stand here as proof,” he shared.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, his contract guarantees a base salary of $1.25 million, along with additional incentives.
“Leading USF after my time at UNF is only possible in America,” he added, highlighting the unique opportunities available in higher education.
Limayem was selected as the sole finalist for this role by the USF Presidential Search Committee in September and received full backing from the USF Board of Trustees in October. He will officially begin his role in early 2026.
