The state faces notable gaps in behavioral health care. About 40% of Illinoisans live in areas with a shortage of mental health professionals. Molina is working to provide care for uninsured individuals and increase local providers’ capacity.

Maternal health is another critical focus. Research shows Black women are twice as likely to die from pregnancy-related conditions compared to white women. Molina is investing in programs that provide doulas, which can help reduce cesarean deliveries and improve postpartum care.

Moreover, health-related social needs, like housing and food security, greatly affect health outcomes. Molina partners with community organizations to address these issues by supporting services that provide food access and housing stability.
