The Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change recently received the prestigious Statesman Award from the Wild Sheep Foundation. This award highlights Mongolia’s commitment to argali conservation and international collaboration.
The ceremony took place during an exhibition focused on wildlife conservation in Reno, USA, on January 16. Key figures from the Ministry, including Uranchimeg Tserendorj and Enkhtaivan Urcheen, along with Samyaa Ravdan from the Mongolian Zoological Association, were honored for their efforts.
Gray Thornton, the President of the Wild Sheep Foundation, praised Mongolia for setting a global benchmark in natural resource management. He emphasized how the country is actively protecting and restoring wildlife in its mountains. According to Thornton, Mongolia’s work aligns perfectly with the foundation’s goal of conserving and reintroducing wild sheep into their natural habitats.
