Snow squalls are hitting our area this morning, but there’s good news: they are expected to ease by early afternoon, according to Environment Canada.
Here are the places currently under a Snow Squall Warning:
- Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale
- Midland – Coldwater – Orr Lake
- Orillia – Lagoon City – Washago
What can you expect?
We might see an extra 10 to 15 cm of snow, with the heaviest snowfall hitting at rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour. Conditions will be challenging, with visibility dropping to near zero at times due to the falling and blowing snow.
These snow squalls can create wild weather changes. You might go from clear skies to heavy snow in just a few kilometres, making driving risky. If you can, it’s best to delay any non-essential travel until the weather calms down.
