WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Bad weather on Monday cut the Quinnipiac Classic down to 36 holes. After pausing during the first round at the Farms Country Club, the action kicked off again on Tuesday, allowing teams to finish round one and play round two.
Lehigh finished strong, tying for fourth place out of 11 teams with a total score of 632 (324-308). Senior Yuki Zhu stood out for the Mountain Hawks, tying for 14th place with a score of 156 (83-73). Zhu’s second round of 73 was the tournament’s best. She recorded one birdie in the first round and two in the second.
Sophomore Reese Hannon also had a solid performance, tying for 17th at 157 (78-79). Hannon collected three birdies total, impressively scoring two in her first round.
Junior Stefania Fedun was close behind, tying for 20th with a score of 158 (81-77) and made two birdies in the second round.
Sophomore Alana Hall tied for 26th at 161 (82-79), with first-year Alisia Ren just behind her, tying for 31st after rounds of 83 and 79. Ren recorded one birdie in her first round.
First-year Sienna Mosquera wrapped up the tournament in 62nd place with a score of 180 (95-85).
Quinnipiac emerged victorious, finishing the tournament with a score of 608 (311-297), edging out the second-place team by three strokes. The individual medalist was Harvard’s Vanessa Zhang, finishing at one under par with a score of 143 (72-71), six strokes ahead of her closest competitor.
Looking ahead, the Mountain Hawks are set to host the Lehigh Invitational at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., on October 25-26.
