He received a threatening email demanding a ransom of Rs 80 lakh in bitcoins from someone claiming to be linked to the infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The email warned him to keep quiet, or face serious repercussions.

Instead of staying silent, Singh took immediate action. He reported the threats to the Adarsh Nagar police station, where officials quickly registered a case. Chhotelal, the police station in charge, mentioned that the cyber team is investigating the matter. The email stated that Singh had been watched for the past month, with threats directed at him and his family. Investigators are now trying to trace the email’s origin. They need to determine if it genuinely came from Bishnoi’s gang or if it’s the work of cybercriminals trying to exploit his name.

Cybercriminals often misuse Bishnoi’s name for intimidation and financial gain.

• A businessman in Jaipur faced a threat of Rs 5 crore via an international call.
• Threat emails reminiscent of Bishnoi’s style were also sent in Jodhpur and Bikaner.

The Ajmer police are taking this case seriously and have promised heightened security for Dilraj Singh. Their cyber team is hard at work, trying to track down the sender’s IP address and digital footprints. However, Chhotelal emphasized that a direct link to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang won’t be confirmed until evidence is found.
