MSU Athletics: Beaver Hockey Teams Ranked 3rd and 5th in Exciting New ACHA Polls!

MINOT, N.D. – Both Minot State hockey teams are shining in the latest ACHA polls. The men’s team ranks No. 3 in Division I after a strong performance last week, while the women’s team holds the No. 5 spot.

The men, boasting a record of 7-0-1, recently secured victories against UNLV (4-2) and No. 12 Mary (5-1). Despite these wins, they slipped from No. 2 to No. 3, as Ohio claimed the top spot, followed by Niagara at No. 2. Their local rival, Jamestown, is ranked No. 4, with Calvin (Mich.) rounding out the top five. UNLV fell to No. 8 after their matchup.

This Saturday, the Minot State men will face off against the Marauders in Bismarck.

The women’s team, with a record of 4-2-1, also dropped a spot to No. 5 after two overtime games against Midland, the current No. 1 team. They managed a tie (2-2) and a narrow loss (2-1) in those matches. Liberty (Va.) holds the No. 2 position for the second week, while McKendree (Ill.) is at No. 3. Maryville (Mo.) climbed to No. 4, swapping places with Minot State. Jamestown, the local rival, moved up to No. 11.

The Minot State women will take a break this weekend, but they’re set to play against Jamestown on November 14 and 15.

This ongoing competitive spirit reflects a growing trend in college hockey, where teams push each other to new heights. According to recent statistics from the ACHA, more than 300 teams are participating this season, highlighting the sport’s increasing popularity. Fans and players alike share excitement on social media, with #ACHA and team hashtags trending as they rally support for their teams.
