Leaders from Munson Army Health Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, recently visited the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center. This open house event was a great chance for them to learn about the services available to veterans.
During their tour of the VA Medical Center, the Munson team explored key areas and spoke with care teams. They discussed how both facilities can work together to support veterans. With the Eisenhower Center just five miles away, the potential for collaboration is significant, especially in helping service members transition to civilian life.
Munson currently helps soldiers with the Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) process. This program lets eligible service members file for disability claims before they leave active duty, ensuring that VA benefits can start quickly after they’re discharged.
Lt. Col. Scott Reynoldson, Munson’s deputy commander for Administration, noted, “Engagements like this help us better understand community resources and guide Soldiers preparing to transition.” He expressed enthusiasm for future discussions and collaboration.
The connection between Munson and the Eisenhower VA Medical Center reflects a shared goal: to serve veterans and their families effectively. Ongoing communication helps enhance coordination and care across military and veteran health systems.
This partnership is increasingly important. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, there were approximately 19 million veterans in the U.S. as of 2021. As many veterans seek healthcare and support, strengthening these partnerships can lead to improved services.
Efforts like these not only provide essential support to those who served but also build a sense of community for veterans adjusting to life after service. As connections deepen between organizations like Munson and Eisenhower, they can create a more seamless experience for veterans.
