Kaitlyn Nellegar led the charge with 20 points, 19 rebounds, and six assists, while Gianna Albanese contributed 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and four steals. Their combined effort was crucial in a game filled with ups and downs.
Nutley started strong, leading 24-20 at halftime. However, Science Park fought back, tying the game at 35-35 by the end of the fourth quarter. Both teams struggled offensively in the first overtime, scoring just two points each, which pushed the game into a second overtime.
In the decisive double overtime, Nutley pulled ahead with a 6-2 run to secure the victory. Grace Christie also made her mark with nine points, five rebounds, and five assists. With this win, Nutley improved to 8-9 for the season.
Looking ahead, Nutley is set to face third-seeded University in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Saturday.
On the other hand, Science Park’s recent performance has been rocky. After winning four games in a row, they have now lost two of their last three. They sit second in the Freedom Division of the Super Essex Conference, trailing Arts, who have an unbeaten 8-0 record while Science Park is 7-1.
Jada Rodgers stood out for Science Park with 25 points, six rebounds, and three steals, while Daziya Hudson added 17 points, three rebounds, and three steals.
