NASA Astronaut’s Daughter Speaks Out: Accuses Agency of ‘Negligence’ After Father’s Stranding

Barry Wilmore, a NASA astronaut, is currently stranded in space, and his daughter Daryn is speaking out about it. She feels that ‘negligence’ is to blame for their difficult situation.

In a touching video shared on social media, the 19-year-old expressed her frustration. Her dad has missed important moments during his nearly nine-month stay in space, including Christmas and her parents’ anniversary. Daryn and her sister, Logan, both miss him dearly and look forward to their father’s return.

Living in Houston, Texas, the family has been counting the days since Wilmore’s launch last June. Daryn described the experience as tough but shared that her concerns are more about the reason behind his extended absence rather than him being away. She mentioned issues caused by political factors and management delays that have postponed their father’s homecoming.

Wilmore was supposed to return from the International Space Station just a few days after arriving. However, problems with their return spacecraft led to an extended stay that now seems set to last until mid-March.

Both daughters have stayed in touch with their father through video calls. Daryn said, “I talk to my dad all the time, usually every day or every couple of days.” They cherish these moments, which help ease the pain of separation.

Logan, 16, has also expressed her feelings openly. In videos, she shared clips of her father before he left and sweet moments like hugs before his journey. She captioned one video, “Not dead, just stuck in space. I’m not worried at all, just miss him!”

Despite the challenges, the sisters remain hopeful. Daryn mentioned she’s excited about Wilmore’s expected return and can’t wait for him to attend her theater performances and see Logan graduate from high school.

Throughout this ordeal, both daughters are confident in their father’s well-being. Daryn remarked, “My dad is very resilient.” They are eager for the moment they can finally give him a hug again.

As they wait for the long-awaited reunion, the family continues to show love and support for one another during this unusual chapter in their lives.
