Natalie Portman is expecting her third child, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. This baby is her first with partner Tanguy Destable, a musician known as Tepr. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Portman expressed her joy, saying, “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”
She also mentioned having more energy this time around than she initially expected. Portman has two children, Aleph, 14, and Amalia, 9, from her previous marriage to Benjamin Millepied.
Currently, Portman has two projects in the works: The Gallerist and Lena Dunham’s Good Sex for Netflix. Her father, a fertility doctor, gave her a unique perspective on pregnancy. “I grew up hearing how hard it can be,” she reflected. “I have many loved ones who’ve faced struggles, so I keep that in mind.”
Interestingly, Portman shared a cultural twist on her pregnancy. In France, where she is embracing a new lifestyle, full-term is considered to be 41 weeks rather than the usual 40. “I guess I get an extra week to be pregnant this time around,” she joked, adding a light-hearted touch to her experience.
This milestone comes amid changing societal views on motherhood and family. As recent statistics show, many women are choosing to have children later in life, reflecting a broader trend in the U.S. According to the CDC, the birth rate for women aged 30 to 34 has increased by over 10% in the past decade. Portman’s journey touches on themes of gratitude and respect, making her pregnancy story relatable to many.
