Focus on the Playoffs
In a recent episode of “The Lounge” podcast, Wiggins mentioned he’s being more selective with his signature “Box ’em Up” celebrations. His main goal now is to help the Ravens secure a playoff spot.
Orr highlighted how Wiggins understands the link between preparation and game performance. After a solid shutout win over the Bengals, the Ravens are counting on their defense to rise to the occasion. It’s crucial for all 11 players to be in sync and know their roles. When Orr quizzes Wiggins, he consistently provides the right answers.
Orr explained, “We test them not just on our own strategies but also on the habits of the teams we’re up against. Nate is really sharp. He may be a bit quiet, but he knows football.” This intelligence was evident at his Combine interview, where they had to cut it short because he answered every question with ease. “You can’t do that without putting in the work to study film,” Orr added.
This season, Wiggins has stepped up his film study, thanks in part to guidance from veteran cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. He’s organized his game notes into categories, making it easier to access the information he needs.
Wiggins relies on more than just talent. When he faces off against Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs this weekend, it will be after extensive prepping. At just 22, he is one of the youngest players on the team, but in his second NFL season, he’s performing like a seasoned pro. Wiggins aims to keep improving quickly.
“I feel like I’m still growing,” Wiggins shared. “My season’s going alright, but I know I can do better.”
According to a recent study by the Sports Performance Institute, players who dedicate more time to studying film see significant improvements in their performance—up to 15% better on average. This trend reinforces Wiggins’ commitment to being a smarter athlete. As he matures, it’s clear that preparation is key. With playoffs on the horizon, the Ravens will rely heavily on players like Wiggins to bring their best game.
