LAS VEGAS — Nathan Chasing Horse, known for his role in “Dances With Wolves,” received a life sentence for sexually assaulting Indigenous women and girls. A jury found him guilty of 13 charges, primarily focused on the assaults of three women.
During the sentencing, survivors expressed their ongoing pain. Corena Leone-LaCroix, who was assaulted at 14, shared how the assault robbed her of a normal childhood. “The life that little girl could have lived has been taken from me forever,” she stated.
Chasing Horse, now 49, showed no emotion in court and maintained his innocence, saying he was a victim of a “miscarriage of justice.” Judge Jessica Peterson pointedly criticized him for denying the evidence presented during the trial. “You preyed on these women’s trust and spirituality,” she said.
