Anthony Edwards, the standout player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, received a one-game suspension from the NBA after picking up his 16th technical foul of the season during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This foul led to an automatic ejection in the third quarter of the Timberwolves’ 111-102 loss. As a result, he missed the following game against the Utah Jazz.

According to NBA rules, a player faces a one-game suspension after hitting 16 technical fouls. If this number increases, so does the length of the suspension—one additional game for every two fouls thereafter.
Timberwolves coach Chris Finch shared that Edwards feels bad about the situation. “He understands and is remorseful,” Finch said. “He knows he needs to improve and hopes to learn from this experience.” Finch expressed concern about the frequent technicals, emphasizing that Edwards is generally a pleasant person who loves playing basketball.
Edwards was ejected with just over five minutes left in the third quarter when the Timberwolves were trailing. His frustrations stemmed from a call that he disagreed with regarding a drive to the basket. He had a brief scuffle with a Lakers player before the second quarter began, which also resulted in technical fouls for both of them.
Despite the setback, Edwards remains a top player, currently ranking fourth in the NBA with an impressive average of 27.3 points per game. He scored 18 points in just 26 minutes before his ejection.
