NBCUniversal has announced a new policy requiring employees to be in the office at least four days a week starting January 5, 2026. This change affects hybrid workers, who will need to be onsite from Monday through Thursday. Fridays remain flexible, allowing team members to choose to either work from home or come into the office.

In a memo, Adam Miller, NBCUniversal’s COO, explained the decision. He emphasized the value of in-person collaboration, stating it boosts creativity and innovation. Miller noted that this shift reflects a growing trend among companies. For example, Paramount Skydance also announced a five-day in-office requirement, beginning on the same date.

Currently, NBCUniversal staff must be in the office three days a week. Many employees were already coming in on Mondays, so the change may not be surprising. If employees are unable to meet this new requirement, those at the VP level or below might be offered a voluntary exit package.

As businesses push for more in-office work, studies show mixed reactions among employees. A recent survey revealed that 61% of workers prefer a hybrid model, while 39% favor being fully remote. This reflects a broader conversation about work-life balance and employee well-being.
