Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S26 series and is now focusing on its next foldable devices, particularly the Galaxy Z Flip8. However, battery details have emerged that might disappoint fans hoping for enhancements.

The Z Flip8 will feature two battery cells with capacities of 1,150mAh and 3,024mAh, totaling 4,174mAh. Interestingly, this is the same capacity as last year’s Galaxy Z Flip7, which had slightly different cell sizes: 1,189mAh and 2,985mAh.

Despite this, Samsung will likely advertise the Z Flip8’s typical capacity as 4,300mAh, similar to its predecessor. The distinction between rated and typical capacity accounts for variability in manufacturing.

There’s speculation that the Z Fold8 is expected to outsell the Z Flip8 for the first time, indicating a shift in consumer preference toward book-style foldables. Rumors suggest that Samsung will not release a Z Flip FE this year but will instead focus on a new Z Fold.

Unfortunately, the Z Flip8 seems to lack upgrades in important areas. It will have the same camera setup as its predecessors: a dual camera on the back (50MP + 12MP) and a 10MP selfie camera. This suggests that Samsung is adopting a more consistent, perhaps conservative approach with its Flip line.

While foldable phones are an innovative direction for the industry, consumer reactions might be mixed, especially if they feel that the Z Flip8 doesn’t offer enough new features.
