New Mexico PBS Elevates Broadcast Technology Manager to Director of Engineering: A Step Forward in Innovation

Congratulations to Jason Quinn, who has stepped up as the new director of engineering at NMPBS. Previously, he managed broadcast technology, a role he handled with great skill.

Franz Joachim, the CEO of New Mexico PBS, praised Quinn’s leadership qualities. “Jason leads a team of talented professionals dedicated to keeping us on the air and exploring new technology,” he said.

In his new position, Quinn will oversee 35 translator sites on mountaintops as well as NMPBS facilities in Albuquerque and Sandia Crest. This is crucial because NMPBS’s signal reaches most of New Mexico.

Quinn’s promotion is a result of his dedication, innovative spirit, and strong community values. After many years of remarkable service to the University of New Mexico, his NMPBS colleagues are thrilled about his new role.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition and eager to continue supporting NMPBS in every way I can,” Quinn expressed. He also thanked his team for their collaboration in moving the department forward.

Quinn was recently recognized with the 2024 Gerald W. May Staff Recognition Award for his outstanding service. His colleagues shared stories of his commitment, including how he managed a critical outage at Sandia Crest on Christmas Eve instead of being with his family.

He also led efforts to build three tower sites for the Navajo Nation, which not only support PBS programming but also provide essential emergency alerts to rural areas.
