NBA Introduces New Draft Lottery System
The NBA has made a significant change to its Draft Lottery rules. Starting with the 2027 NBA Draft, a new “3-2-1 Lottery” system will kick in. This change aims to reduce the incentive for teams to deliberately lose games, a practice known as tanking.

Tougher Penalties for Tanking: The league can impose harsher penalties for tanking, including lowering a team’s lottery chances or fining them.
