New Study Reveals Climate Change Boosted Nordic Heatwave by 2°C: What You Need to Know

Human-caused climate change is pushing temperatures higher than ever in the Nordic region. A recent study found that a heatwave hit Finland, Norway, and Sweden, making temperatures about 2°C warmer than normal. This situation strained health systems, ecosystems, and impacted indigenous Sami reindeer herders, who are unprepared for such heat.

During this heatwave, temperatures exceeded 30°C for two weeks, with Finland experiencing a record 22 consecutive days over this mark. The intense heat led to numerous health emergencies, with people fainting at outdoor events and hospitals reaching their limits.
