NEW ULM — The New Ulm Eagles were on fire in their recent game against Tri-City United. In the first half of the Big South Conference matchup, the Eagles forced 17 turnovers and limited TCU to just 17 points.

New Ulm’s offense exploded, scoring 52 points before halftime, ultimately winning the game 86-40. Zach Hubbard stood out, leading the team with 21 points. Levi Hopp and Mitchell Hopp contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively, while Nick Risen added 9 and Isaiah Friese chipped in 8.

For TCU, Jaylen Nhem was the top scorer with 13 points.

New Ulm’s head coach, Matthew Dennis, praised his team’s performance. “Our boys came in ready and executed the game plan,” he said. “We scored our highest first-half total with 52 points.” The Eagles’ strong start showcased effective teamwork and communication on the court.

New Ulm quickly took control of the game, racing to a 16-0 lead with several three-pointers and turnovers from TCU. They continued to extend their lead, reaching 40-12 before halftime.

“We had a lot of assists tonight, especially in that first half,” Coach Dennis noted. The Eagles were unselfish with the ball, creating a solid offensive rhythm. Their defense pressured TCU effectively, turning defensive stops into scoring opportunities.

After halftime, New Ulm maintained its momentum and continued to dominate, increasing the score to 69-29. Coach Dennis expressed optimism about the team’s progress, saying, “They are doing good things right now. We focused on setting the tone early, and the players executed that plan.” The Eagles will look to carry this success into their upcoming game against Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial.
