Nilsen Soars to New Heights: Vaults 6.01m at Caen Meet | World Athletics Highlights

In an exciting moment for athletics, Chris Nilsen from the USA made headlines by pole vaulting 6.01 meters, becoming the first man to clear six meters in 2025. He achieved this impressive height on his first attempt during the Perch’Xtrem event in Caen, France, which is part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver series.

Nilsen’s victory stood out, especially as he later attempted a North American record of 6.10m. The competition saw Olympic bronze medalist Emmanouil Karalis take second place with a height of 5.90m. French athletes Baptiste Thiery and Renaud Lavillenie tied for third at 5.80m.

Women’s pole vault competition was just as thrilling. Angelica Moser from Switzerland clinched the title with a jump of 4.71m. New Zealand’s Imogen Ayris performed well, setting a new personal best of 4.66m to take second.

Meanwhile, at the Elite Indoor Track Meeting in Miramas, Morocco’s Abdelati El Guesse triumphed in the 800m race, finishing in 1:45.57. He edged out European U23 champion Yanis Meziane, who ran a time of 1:45.87, placing him third on the French indoor all-time list. Noah Kibet, a former world indoor silver medalist, secured third with 1:46.05.

Liadagmis Povea won a thrilling triple jump competition, achieving a world-leading mark of 14.57m, just five centimeters ahead of fellow Cuban Leyanis Perez Hernandez. In the men’s long jump, Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Saraboyukov took the gold with a leap of 8.19m, narrowly defeating China’s Shu Heng, who jumped 8.12m.

Other standout performances in Miramas included Senegal’s Mamadou Fall Sarr winning the men’s 60m in a time of 6.54 seconds. Louis Gilavert also made his mark, taking first in the men’s 1500m with 3:36.25. Enrique Llopis won the men’s 60m hurdles with a time of 7.54 seconds, while France’s Laeticia Bapte captured the women’s 60m hurdles, finishing in 7.93 seconds.

Over in Boston at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, several records were broken in distance events. Whittni Morgan stood out by winning the women’s 5000m with a personal best of 14:48.41, pushing her into the top 20 on the world all-time list. Ella Donaghu and Bailey Hertenstein followed, with times of 14:50.89 and 14:56.33, respectively. Hertenstein also celebrated a remarkable 14-second improvement in her personal best.

In the mile, Elise Cranny, a world and Olympic finalist in the 5000m, made a splash with a leading time of 4:20.83, moving her to third place in the US indoor all-time rankings. Nikki Hiltz, a world indoor 1500m silver medalist, dominated the women’s 3000m, finishing in 8:32.52, ahead of Australia’s Linden Hall who crossed the line in 8:35.17.
