The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) recently dealt with a fire on the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in Delta State. The fire broke out on December 14, 2025, near the Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities.
Andy Odeh, NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, announced that the company has successfully contained the situation. He reassured everyone that safety measures were in place for the communities and workers.
Odeh mentioned that all affected sections of the pipeline had been isolated securely. A joint inspection took place with teams from NNPC Ltd., the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and maintenance contractors to assess the damage.
In response, the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) activated its Business Continuity Plan. This plan aims to lessen the impact on shippers and suppliers. Odeh emphasized ongoing communication with host communities and state authorities, highlighting their importance during this time.
