Northup Appointed Executive Senior Associate AD for Longhorn Foundation at University of Texas Athletics

AUSTIN, Texas — Carly Northup has recently been promoted to Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for the Longhorn Foundation, a major shift announced by Chris Del Conte, the Vice President and Director of Texas Athletics. With over 20 years in collegiate athletics fundraising, including the past three years at Texas, Northup steps into a role previously held by Andrew Hamor.

Del Conte praised Northup’s commitment and achievements, stating that she has played a significant part in the Longhorn Foundation’s success. He expressed excitement about her leadership as they continue to build a strong philanthropic platform for Texas Athletics.

Since joining Texas Athletics in September 2022, Northup has been pivotal in shaping the department’s fundraising strategy. She has worked closely with leaders to drive day-to-day operations and enhance revenue-generating initiatives.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support our Longhorn student-athletes,” Northup said. She emphasized the importance of the dedicated supporters and the team she collaborates with to create meaningful opportunities for student-athletes.

The Longhorn Foundation has seen remarkable growth since 2022. It has reached an all-time high in donor numbers, major gift pledges, and total funds raised. In the 2023-24 period alone, the Foundation recorded $198 million in new gifts and pledges, including $74.4 million cash for the annual fund — the most since its inception in 1986. This growth has continued year after year, with almost 26,000 members and contributions surpassing $80 million in the annual fund.

The United Texas Circle, an initiative encouraging multi-year commitments, has also contributed significantly to this surge in donations, fostering a culture of philanthropy that has led to a record number of six-figure gifts.

Before her time at Texas, Northup held senior positions at several universities, including Rutgers and Virginia Tech. She earned a graduate degree in Sport Management from West Virginia University.

The Longhorn Foundation, established in 1986 by legendary athletics director DeLoss Dodds, plays a crucial role in supporting UT’s student-athletes, coaches, and programs. Through generous donations, it helps foster student growth, enhance competitive performance, and improve facilities, ensuring an exceptional experience for all involved with Longhorn Athletics.
