Nvidia kicked off the Computex trade show in Taipei with an exciting reveal: the RTX Spark, a new “superchip” designed for AI-powered PCs. This chip promises incredible speed, running at 1 petaflop, and is tailored to operate smart AI agents like OpenClaw and Hermes Agent.

Major brands like ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and MSI are set to release PCs featuring this chip this fall. Models from Acer and Gigabyte are also on the horizon. These machines come equipped with secure environments developed with Microsoft, allowing them to run AI agents safely. Plus, they have robust specs to handle large language models right on the device.

Nvidia claims the RTX Spark will boost AI performance and enhance gaming experiences, with support for over 1,000 games and applications. This shift positions the chip as a game-changer not just for gamers but also for creators making AI content. Over 100 software developers, including big names like Adobe and Xbox, are backing this chip.

CEO Jensen Huang sees even bigger ambitions behind this technology. He envisions a future where users can simply ask their PCs to perform tasks, instead of navigating through apps. He mentioned that the new market for AI-focused CPUs could skyrocket to $200 billion. In fact, Nvidia’s high-end server CPU, Vera, has already generated $20 billion in sales.

Interestingly, Nvidia’s earlier attempts with ARM chips fell flat back in 2013, when Microsoft lost $900 million on the Surface RT. But with Nvidia’s recent financial success, it seems they’re in a stronger position this time around.

Microsoft is promoting its RTX Spark-powered device as the Surface Laptop Ultra, claiming it to be the most powerful model they’ve ever built. While specifics about pricing and models are still under wraps, these PCs should serve various needs, competing potentially with budget options like the Mac Mini, or sitting at the higher end of the market, similar to Nvidia’s own mini-computer.

As users increasingly trend toward AI tools and applications, the success of these new PCs could signal a significant shift in how we interact with technology. If Nvidia manages to make AI agents accessible and user-friendly, it could reshape the landscape of personal computing.
