NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney Secures Funding for Safety and Care Improvements
Funding will enhance security measures and expand cardiac rehabilitation services for residents.

NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney recently announced that City Council Member Rita Joseph has secured $475,000 in funding for important upgrades. This money will improve safety for residents and staff while expanding cardiac rehabilitation services.
The funding includes adding telemetry services. With telemetry, nurses can remotely monitor residents with heart issues, such as congestive heart failure. This technology tracks vital signs like blood pressure and heart rhythms, helping to catch any issues early and reducing the need for hospital visits.
Along with healthcare improvements, NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney will enhance its security systems. This includes installing cameras and creating new access protocols to ensure the safety of everyone in the facility. Better security will also help prevent residents from wandering into unsafe areas.

Dr. Lucan Rodrigues, Chief Medical Officer, commented on the benefit of technology in care. “This funding will uplift the care we provide at McKinney. We look forward to utilizing the latest advancements to support our residents on their road to recovery.”
Captain Angel Melendez, head of Hospital Police at McKinney, noted the facility’s high foot traffic and the resulting need for vigilance. “Thanks to Council Member Joseph’s support, we can prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents,” he shared.
Ezra Bryan, Director of Capital Budget for NYC Health + Hospitals, added that these improvements focus on both current needs and future challenges. “Modernizing our infrastructure means we’re ready to meet the evolving needs of elderly care,” he said.
