The New York Racing Association (NYRA) is teaming up with Market 32 and Price Chopper for a great cause this summer at the Saratoga Race Course. They are launching a special initiative to help combat food insecurity in the region.

Here’s how it works: Every time a specific horse wins the second race on a given day, Market 32, Price Chopper, and Polar Beverages will donate 1,000 meals to the Regional Food Bank. This partnership aims to raise awareness about hunger in the community while promoting local racing.

NYRA’s Community Affairs Manager, Robert Hines, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “It’s rewarding to see local businesses come together for such an important cause.” This collaboration not only boosts community spirit but also uses the excitement of horse racing as a platform for charity.

Food insecurity is a pressing issue. In the U.S., about 10.5% of households are food insecure, affecting millions of people. The pandemic has made this problem worse, driving many families to seek help from food banks. Initiatives like this one are essential in providing necessary support.

During the summer meet, which lasts until Labor Day, racing fans can not only enjoy the races but also contribute to a noble cause. On the final day of racing, the total number of meals donated will be revealed in a special presentation. It’s a fantastic way to combine entertainment with philanthropy.
