Oklahoma State faced a strong challenge from Arizona State in a tightly contested match that ended in a 0-0 draw at the Sun Devil Soccer Complex.
This result marked OSU’s first point in the Big 12, bringing their overall record to 4-4-2 and 0-1-1 in conference play. Arizona State, on the other hand, had its impressive seven-game winning streak come to a halt, now sitting at 8-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the league.
Sophomore goalie Logan Marks stood out for the Cowgirls, making a career-high nine saves, earning her third career shutout. She was pivotal in defending against a relentless ASU offense, which managed 28 shots and 11 corner kicks during the match.
In the first half, ASU dominated with a 13-4 shot advantage. OSU nearly scored in the 35th minute when Emmy Hedden’s chip shot struck the right post. Just five minutes later, Marks made an impressive play by denying a penalty kick from Tatum Thomason, saving both the initial shot and the rebound, keeping the score level.
The second half saw Marks and the Cowgirl defense continue to hold firm. ASU fired off another 15 shots, with four on target. Marks showcased her skills again, making three crucial saves in the final moments.
Despite the draw, both teams demonstrated resilience and strong defensive efforts. Texas A&M now stands as a point of interest, as both OSU and ASU will need to strengthen their performances moving forward to compete effectively in the conference.
