Olympic Champion Oksana Baiul Sells $1.2M Louisiana Mansion Amid Career Struggles: ‘I’m Unable to Make a Living’

Oksana Baiul, the Olympic gold medalist from the 1994 Winter Olympics, is selling her Shreveport mansion for $1.2 million. After facing challenges in Louisiana and dealing with her recent divorce, she’s heading back to Las Vegas.

“My heart is broken,” Baiul shared on Facebook. Despite her dreams of starting a skating school in Louisiana, she found it tough to make a livable income there. “I have to go where the ice exists,” she said. Baiul has fond memories of the people in Shreveport but feels it’s time for a change.

The 47-year-old skating champion has had quite a journey. After her Olympic success, Baiul moved around the U.S. before settling in Pennsylvania and later marrying Carlo Farina. They bought the Shreveport home, originally built in 1925 and restored over the last few years, for $600,000. It boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and sits on a 1.3-acre lot.

On September 20, she officially listed the property, expressing mixed feelings. Baiul refers to her home as “the most beautiful mansion in all of Shreveport.” It’s clear that this place holds special memories for her.

In August, Baiul announced her divorce from Farina after ten years of marriage, sharing her situation with fans on social media. The couple has a daughter who is already back in Vegas, which makes the move more convenient for Baiul.

In her next chapter, Baiul will work with the Vegas Golden Knights organization, helping to develop skating programs in the area. Her perspective about life is shaped by her experiences: “I learn everything from tougher situations. I’m blessed and I’m grateful.”

In a recent interview, Baiul highlighted the importance of resilience, reflecting on her journey from the ice rink to personal struggles. “If you fall down on the ice, you get back up. Life is just like that,” she concluded.

This new endeavor in Las Vegas might pave the way for her to reignite her career while staying close to her roots in skating, blending her passion with new opportunities.
