Oregon National Guard Joins Forces with Ducks at University of Oregon’s Exciting Spring Football Game!

EUGENE, Ore. – On April 26, 2025, the Oregon National Guard joined the University of Oregon Ducks for their annual spring football game at Autzen Stadium. This event was a colorful blend of sports and community engagement.

The National Guard set up recruiting booths outside the stadium. Here, fans had a chance to get up close with military equipment and chat with service members. “This is a fantastic way to show what we do and connect with our community,” said Master Sgt. Brandon Chase, who oversees recruiting in Eugene, Springfield, and Corvallis. “We’re just like them—we’re proud Duck fans and we serve our home.”

Just before kickoff, service members and veterans proudly displayed a large U.S. flag on the field. The national anthem was performed by Sgt. 1st Class Duane Reno from the 234th Army Band. As they walked off the field, two F-15 Eagles from the 173rd Fighter Wing flew overhead, adding a thrilling touch to the moment.

During halftime, new recruits and current service members took the Oath of Enlistment on the field, pledging their commitment to serve. This ritual is always emotional and inspiring, marking a significant step in their careers.

After the game, over 125 service members joined the football team on the field for an “End of Game Exchange,” a fun and memorable way to celebrate teamwork and community pride.

Events like this highlight the deep bond between the military and the local community. According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, around 72% of Americans express strong support for their local military services. This kind of engagement not only fosters goodwill but also enhances awareness of the opportunities within the National Guard.
