Oregon State University Experiences Exciting Enrollment Growth for Fall 2025

Oregon State University (OSU) has reported a slight increase in enrollment for the fall term, reaching 38,460 students, which is up about 1.5% from last year. This includes 9,012 freshmen, with 2,356 of them being transfer students.

Nechell Bonds, OSU’s Vice Provost, emphasized the importance of flexibility in meeting students’ diverse needs. “Institutions that adapt will continue to thrive in enrollment,” she said.

However, the university saw a small dip in international students, with the count falling to 2,181. This trend aligns with a national decline linked to new visa restrictions from previous administrations.

Bonds noted that while attracting new international students has been challenging, there is a silver lining. “The success story is in the retention of students already here. Many are choosing to stay,” she added.

Interestingly, OSU’s online program remained steady after previous growth, while the main campus in Corvallis saw a 2% increase, and the Bend campus experienced a 3% rise.

According to a recent study by the National Student Clearinghouse, total enrollment in U.S. colleges fell by about 4% this year, highlighting that OSU’s growth stands out. The ability to adapt to changing circumstances may be key to future successes in higher education.

Overall, as OSU continues to navigate a shifting landscape, the focus on meeting student needs remains crucial.
