Gunnar Henderson, the Baltimore Orioles shortstop, won’t be ready for Opening Day. General manager Mike Elias shared that he’ll start the season on the injured list. Henderson’s been sidelined since February 27 due to a strained intercostal muscle he picked up during spring training.

Henderson’s impact on the team is significant. Last season, he played 159 games, earned a spot as a first-time All-Star, and hit 37 home runs, 31 doubles, and drove in 92 runs. In 2023, he was named the American League Rookie of the Year. Over his career, he has batted .268, with 69 homers and 192 RBIs in 343 games for Baltimore.
