Oscars 2025 Live Updates: Watch Priyanka Chopra’s Star Protégé Anuja Shine on the Red Carpet!

The 97th Academy Awards are happening right now at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This year, Conan O’Brien is hosting the event for the first time. The spotlight is on Jacques Audiard’s bold musical about a Mexican drug lord transitioning to life as a woman, which leads with 13 nominations.

Two films, The Brutalist and Wicked, are also strong contenders, each receiving 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and more. Bob Dylan’s biopic, A Complete Unknown, and Conclave are both in the running with 8 nominations each.

Among the nominees, the only Indian entry is Anuja. This film is nominated for Best Live Action Short Film and tells a heartfelt story about two sisters, aged nine and her older sibling Palak, who face life’s challenges head-on.

Anuja is produced by well-known figures like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Mindy Kaling. Guneet Monga has a remarkable track record; this is her third Oscar nomination. She previously produced Period. End of Sentence, which won in the Documentary Short Subject category in 2019. More recently, her Netflix documentary short The Elephant Whisperers took home the Oscar in the Best Documentary Short category at the 95th Academy Awards.

This year’s Oscars promise an impressive lineup of presenters. Stars like Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, and Samuel L. Jackson will be handing out awards, along with previously announced names like Selena Gomez and Oprah Winfrey. Last year’s winners, including Emma Stone and Robert Downey Jr., will also take the stage to present awards.
