NORMAN — The No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners faced off against the No. 25 Florida Gators on Saturday, losing the game 10-5. This defeat now sets the stage for a series-deciding game on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
Oklahoma started strong with a two-run inning, thanks to hits from Camden Johnson and Trey Gambill, which allowed Jaxon Willits to bring them home. However, Florida quickly surged ahead, scoring six runs over the next three innings to lead 6-2. OU tried to rally back later with a two-run single from Johnson, but Florida added to their lead in the late innings. Deiten Lachance managed to hit a solo home run for the Sooners, finishing the game at 10-5.
Oklahoma had a tough night leaving 10 runners stranded, including a bases-loaded situation twice. Starting pitcher Cameron Johnson left after one inning due to soreness, but freshman Nick Wesloski impressed on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing just one run and striking out three.
