MIDDLEBORO — The 2024 Giving Tree Program at the Sacred Heart Food Pantry was a remarkable success. It delivered nearly 5,000 gifts to children in need in Middleboro and provided gifts to several dozen patients in local nursing homes who would have gone without this Christmas.

Co-chairs Arlyn White and Marsha Trackey expressed their gratitude, saying, “We are truly blessed to have a community that steps up each and every year to support this amazing program.”
A key contributor to the Giving Tree program has been the Good Neighbors of Plymouth County, founded by Craig Andersen and Phyllis Gordon Lovett. Each year, Andersen and his team host a festive toy drive party at the Elks club. To attend, guests are asked to bring toys as their entrance fee.
This year’s Toy Drive Party on November 16 was especially successful, raising $4,890 in cash through donations and raffles, along with toys valued at over $6,000.
Additionally, the Bluestone Charitable Foundation recently provided a generous grant to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry. Their letter of gratitude highlighted the pantry’s ongoing efforts to fight food insecurity. They granted $2,700 to support the work done in the community.
The Sacred Heart Food Pantry is also joining the Be Well Study, a two-year research project from Massachusetts General Hospital and the Greater Boston Food Bank. In the coming weeks, researchers will visit the pantry to survey around 25 clients. Participation is voluntary and anonymous, and clients will share feedback on their shopping experience at the pantry.
