A huge inflatable colon, measuring 20 feet, is coming back to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital! This unique display allows visitors to walk through and discover important information about colon health, polyps, and cancer. Healthcare experts will be available to educate attendees about prevention, cancer care, and available resources. This display is part of a series of events organized by Owensboro Health, which is expanding to more locations this year.
Starting today, Owensboro Health is teaming up with the Kentucky Cancer Program for its annual Colon Cancer Awareness Events, running through next week. These gatherings aim to inform the public about colorectal cancer prevention, screening, and treatment options.
Visitors will find health resource booths, have the chance to talk with healthcare professionals, and learn how regular screenings can help prevent colon cancer or identify it early when treatment is most effective. Some sites will also feature the large inflatable colon for an interactive experience.

Colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths, but it’s also one of the most preventable with timely screenings. According to the Owensboro Health Cancer Registry, colorectal cancer remains a significant concern in our area. Early detection and education are vital for reducing these statistics.
