GREEN BAY – The Packers face some injury challenges ahead of their game against the Dallas Cowboys. Safety Javon Bullard is questionable after suffering a concussion last week. Meanwhile, tackles Zach Tom and Anthony Belton will not play due to injuries. Left guard Aaron Banks is doubtful, having missed practice all week because of a groin issue.
Bullard entered the concussion protocol after a collision with linebacker Quay Walker. Although he returned to limited practice later in the week, his status remains uncertain.
Tom and Banks were taken out of the game against Cleveland due to their injuries. Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Belton also got hurt during practice. The good news is that he doesn’t expect this to be a long-term issue.
In Tom’s absence, veteran Darian Kinnard stepped in at right tackle during the game against Washington. He played well, especially in the second half, helping the team secure a 27-18 victory. The Packers brought Kinnard in from the Philadelphia Eagles just before the season started, and he has already made an impact, playing in various roles on offense and special teams.
Coach LaFleur praised Kinnard’s progress, saying, “He gets better every day. The limited snaps he’s played have been solid.” This shows the team’s faith in their younger players as they adapt to the demands of the season.
On a positive note, three starters—left tackle Rasheed Walker, tight end Tucker Kraft, and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt—were cleared to play after upgrading from limited participation in practice.
Other players like running back Josh Jacobs and quarterback Jordan Love are expected to be available, boosting the team’s morale ahead of the crucial matchup. In contrast, the Cowboys will miss All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is also sidelined with an ankle injury, along with rookie guard Tyler Booker.
Injuries are a common theme in the NFL, with teams constantly adjusting their game plans. A recent study showed that nearly 80% of NFL teams deal with at least one significant injury during the season, impacting their performance. It’s a reminder of how crucial depth and adaptability are in football.
