Kaneria, who has been outspoken against Pakistan following recent events, played 11 Tests and two ODIs, claiming a total of 44 wickets in his career. The ongoing tensions between the countries have not only impacted the political landscape but also the sports community.

In a wider context, a recent survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that nearly 60% of Indians view Pakistan unfavorably, a sentiment that has only grown since incidents of violence in the region. While sports can be a unifying force, these geopolitical issues often overshadow the game.
