Two Pakistani Women Arrested for Fake Indian Documents in Meerut
In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, two Pakistani women—a mother and daughter—have been arrested for allegedly using fake Indian identity documents. They were living there for nearly 30 years. Police identified them as Saba, also known as Nazia, and her daughter, Aiman Farhat.
The women resided in a crowded area known as Jali Kothi. Saba came to India on a Pakistani passport in 1993 but never returned to Pakistan. Aiman was born in Pakistan as well. Both hold Pakistani citizenship but reportedly managed to acquire Indian passports, Aadhaar cards, and voter IDs without legal Indian citizenship.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avinash Pandey, the investigation began after a local resident named Ruksana filed a complaint. Investigators discovered that Saba had married a man named Farhat Masood, who has ties in India. They unlawfully entered Indian records, raising alarming questions about how they obtained these documents.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the women might have traveled abroad multiple times using fraudulent Indian passports. The police have registered a case and are delving deeper to identify any officials who may have helped in this process. They are also looking into the women’s bank records and communication history for any suspicious activities.
The broader implications of this case are worth noting. India has stringent regulations concerning citizenship and identity verification, especially for foreign nationals.
