Pakistani National Arrested in Uttar Pradesh
In Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested a man from Pakistan who allegedly lived in India for years under a false identity. His name is Syed Wasit Ali, and he was caught in the Sushila Vihar area during a late-night patrol.
Authorities recovered several fake documents from him, including an Aadhaar card and a driving license, both linked to a Bulandshahr address. They also found a photocopy of his Pakistani passport. During questioning, Ali admitted to being a Pakistani national. He explained that he resorted to forgery after failing to secure a long-term visa.
Ali moved to India with his mother, Bilqis, after her second marriage to a resident in Bulandshahr. His three sisters came along, two of whom received long-term visas, while his application remains pending.
Investigation reveals that Ali has a criminal history. In 2012, he was arrested in Meerut under the Foreigners Act and spent time in jail. Now, police are looking into how he acquired those fake documents and if anyone locally helped him.
In a twist, reports suggest Ali may have lived in India for nearly 40 years. His arrest occurred near the Numaishey flyover, and inquiries are ongoing.
Such cases raise concerns about border security and identity verification. The phenomenon of individuals using forged identities isn’t new. It reflects broader issues around immigration policies and their enforcement. According to a 2023 report by the Ministry of Home Affairs, identity fraud cases have been on the rise, often linked to broader criminal networks.
