Palworld Developer Pocketpair Surprises Team with Launch Day Off After Mysterious Employee Notes Suggesting Sick Leave – IGN

The team at Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, has been given a special day off to dive into Monster Hunter Wilds.

According to Automaton, the announcement came after several employees sent humorous messages about feeling “unwell” on this particular day, which just so happens to be the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds.

So, February 28 has turned into a fun holiday for the Pocketpair crew. They made it clear, though, that this time off won’t interrupt their game updates.

Monster Hunter Wilds has made a huge splash, logging over a million players on Steam. This impressive figure places it among the top 10 most-played games in Steam history, surpassing hits like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Hogwarts Legacy.

However, the game has received a mix of reviews on Steam. In response, Capcom has provided advice to help players with performance issues. They also shared preliminary details about an upcoming update that will introduce a new social hub for the endgame.

The release has made waves worldwide, especially in Japan. One indie developer on social media jokingly noted that their sales had stalled since the game launched.

Pocketpair isn’t new to this tradition. They allowed their employees to enjoy a day off when Elden Ring was launched in 2022.

IGN rated Monster Hunter Wilds an 8 out of 10, noting, “It smooths out some of the rough edges of the series, offering fun battles but lacking a real challenge.”
