The political discourse was rife with interpretations of her words. Sanjay Raut, an MP from Shiv Sena (UBT), suggested that if Munde were to consider launching a new party, it should be welcomed. Meanwhile, Chhagan Bhujbal from the NCP remarked that while anyone can start a party, it’s not easy to establish one that resonates deeply with a specific community.
Pankaja Munde’s remarks also stem from her complicated relationship with the BJP. After facing challenges and feeling sidelined for years, she rejoined the state cabinet in December. This background fueled the speculation surrounding her recent statements.
On Monday, she clarified her comments, explaining that her words were taken out of context. She noted that the sentiment expressed by a speaker before her was about people’s affection for her father. Munde insisted that she did not intend to imply a new party was in the works. Instead, she reaffirmed her commitment to the BJP, where many of her father’s supporters already stand.
