Paramount Acquires Hilarious Comedy Spec Script ‘Bald Eagles’ – Exclusive Insights Inside!

Paramount, now part of Skydance, is on a roll. They’ve made several notable deals recently, including one for a wrestling project and others for talent and filmmakers. The biggest news? A big deal for a new comedy script.

They’ve picked up “Bald Eagles,” a comedy by rising star Brandon Cohen, which is said to be worth seven figures. While specifics about the script are under wraps, it’s described as a high-concept, R-rated workplace comedy. Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones from Range Media Partners will produce, with Jack Whigham as the executive producer. Range also represents Cohen.

Paramount co-chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg are keen to diversify their offerings with fresh content. They want to invest in original stories, and this move may pay off big. Some industry insiders suggest this could be one of the biggest spec sales of the year. For Cohen, this is a major milestone. Just five years ago, he was writing for the Disney Channel show “Just Roll With It.”

Cohen’s journey has been tough lately. Last year, his wife gave birth to twins extremely prematurely. The babies faced significant health challenges, leading to long hospital stays. During this difficult time, Cohen channeled his energy into writing, creating two spec scripts. One of those, “I Can See You’re Angry,” was sold to Miramax in March, with BoulderLight producing.

Since the merger between Skydance and Paramount Global on August 7, the new company has made some impressive moves. They secured exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to the Ultimate Fighting Championship for $7.7 billion over seven years. They’ve also lined up a crime drama with Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold at the helm, plus they’ve brought the Duffer Brothers, creators of “Stranger Things,” on board with a lucrative first-look deal.

This momentum reflects a keen push for innovation and original storytelling in an ever-changing entertainment landscape. It’ll be fascinating to see how these developments shape the future of film and television. For more on the latest industry trends, check out Variety.
