Pat Finn: Comedic Actor Passes at 60
Veteran actor Pat Finn, known for his comedic roles in TV shows like The Middle and The George Wendt Show, has passed away after a battle with cancer. His family confirmed that he died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones.
Finn grew up alongside fellow comedian Chris Farley, with whom he studied at Marquette University. They were not just friends; they shared a close bond while performing together in Chicago’s famed Second City troupe.
In the 1990s, Finn gained prominence through guest roles on iconic shows like Seinfeld, where he played Joe Mayo. He also starred as Dan Coleman on The George Wendt Show and Phil Jr. on Murphy Brown. However, his most recognized role came from The Middle, where he portrayed Bill Norwood from 2011 to 2018.
In a heartfelt tribute, fellow comedian and friend Jeff Dye paid his respects on Twitter, reflecting on their close friendship. He described Finn as “one of the best dudes” he knew, emphasizing Finn’s perfect sense of humor.
Though his family did not disclose specific details, it’s reported that Pat Finn had been diagnosed with bladder cancer years earlier. Cancer remains a serious health concern, with the American Cancer Society estimating over 60,000 new diagnoses of bladder cancer in the U.S. in 2023 alone.
Pat is survived by his wife, Donna, and their three children. His legacy in comedy and his impact on friends and many fans will not be forgotten.
