Patriots Announce Key Staff Changes Ahead of Exciting Training Camp Season!

The New England Patriots are ramping up for their 2025 training camp. Rookies and veterans have started reporting to Gillette Stadium, with the first practice set for Wednesday. As they gear up, the team has also released a fresh media guide, highlighting some notable changes in their staff.

Let’s dive into the significant updates.

Strength and Conditioning

Brandon Martuccio and Dexter Taylor are back as strength and conditioning assistants. New head coach Mike Vrabel has decided to keep the entire strength staff from Jerod Mayo’s tenure. Frank Piraino now steps in as the director of sports performance.

Player Personnel Moves

Casey Belongia, who joined the Patriots last year after a decade in Jacksonville, has been promoted from midwest area scout to national scout for the western region. This role was formerly held by Tony Kinkela, the new college scouting director.

Matt Evans has also climbed the ladder. After four years as the national scout for the east, he is now the assistant director of college scouting, working closely with Kinkela. His previous position is currently unfilled.

Justin Hickman remains an area scout but is now focusing on the midwest region, taking over Belongia’s old responsibilities. J.T. Hill, in his fourth year with the team, has transitioned from west area scout to southeast area scout, filling the role left by Josh Hinch.

The Patriots now have two staff members named Joe McDonald. One serves as a senior analyst, while the other has recently joined as a scouting assistant. The latter previously coached at Tufts.

Marshall Oium is also seeing a change. After several roles over the years, he is now the director of scouting projects, a newly created position. Landon Simpson, who joined last year, has been promoted to area scout for the west.

Additionally, Bryson Speas has stepped up as the northeast area scout after serving as a scouting assistant for the last two seasons. Unfortunately, Maya Ana Callender is no longer listed on the team’s staff.

Football Operations Changes

James Mitchell has joined as the director of player development, bringing seven years of experience from Tennessee, where he worked under Mike Vrabel. He has a rich background in college coaching and player development.

Brianna Avedisian has come on board as the IT manager for football operations after two years with Nashville Soccer Club.

There have been significant shifts in the football operations department. Notably, Robyn Glaser and Chris Mattes have left, along with Aturo Adkins and long-time IT specialist Dan Famosi, who had been with the team since 2000 and contributed to all six Super Bowl victories. Josh Kraft, a member of the Kraft family, has stepped back to focus on his mayoral campaign in Boston.

These changes highlight an evolving Patriots organization as they prepare for a new season. With fresh faces and elevated roles, the team seems poised for growth and adaptation in a competitive landscape.
