After taking a long break from performing, the iconic Paul Simon is back! At 83, he is set to hit the road for a tour called “A Quiet Celebration Tour” in spring and summer 2025.
Simon has experienced significant hearing loss in recent years. Because of this, he has chosen smaller, intimate venues that offer the best acoustics. His focus is on creating a more personal connection with his audience.
In May 2023, Simon shared that he lost most of the hearing in his left ear. This sudden change was frustrating for him. Yet, it sparked his desire to perform again. His team noted that he wants to bring his latest album, “Seven Psalms,” to life with fresh arrangements of some beloved classics.
His upcoming tour will start in New Orleans on April 4 and will include stops across North America, wrapping up in Seattle in August. Simon believes that the audience plays a vital role in completing his music, and he’s excited to explore this in a live setting.
Although the last few years have been challenging, Simon continues to create. He has thoughts on mortality and how it shapes artistry. In the early days of creating “Seven Psalms,” he realized how his deteriorating hearing could complicate things. But he turned that struggle into inspiration for his music.
Simon’s personal life includes his wife, Edie Brickell, whom he has been married to for over 30 years. They have three children together: Adrian, Lulu, and Gabriel. Interestingly, he was once married to Carrie Fisher, but their marriage lasted less than a year.
This tour marks a significant moment in Paul Simon’s journey as an artist. It’s a chance for fans to connect with his music in a fresh, intimate way while honoring his incredible legacy.
