Pearlena Igbokwe has stepped into a bigger role at NBCUniversal. Recently, NBCUniversal Studios and Entertainment Chairman Donna Langley announced a leadership change. Igbokwe has been promoted to chairman of NBC Entertainment, a highly sought-after position in the industry.
In her new role, Igbokwe will oversee NBC’s programming, which includes late-night shows, live events, and specials. She will also continue running NBC’s television studios. This includes Universal Television, known for hits like “Law & Order: SVU,” “Hacks,” and “The Day of the Jackal” on Peacock.
Igbokwe has led Universal Television since 2016. Now, she’s adding oversight of scripted originals for Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service.
As part of this reshuffle, Frances Berwick will take on a smaller role. Previously, Berwick managed NBC’s original content and the operations of several cable networks. However, her responsibilities have shifted due to Langley’s effort to streamline control in the company.
Berwick has an impressive background. She spent over 25 years transforming Bravo into a reality TV powerhouse, producing shows like “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” and “Real Housewives.” Now, she will return to lead Bravo and oversee Peacock’s unscripted TV division.
Donna Langley stated this new structure aims to unify NBC’s various divisions under one cohesive organization. Liz Jenkins has also been appointed as chief business officer to enhance content strategy and operations.
Moreover, Jenny Storms has been promoted to chief marketing officer for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. These changes reflect NBCUniversal’s efforts to adapt and strengthen its content offerings in a competitive market.
