Pelosi Urges Democrats to Let Trump ‘Stew in His Own Juice’ During Congressional Address: Here’s Why It Matters

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently shared her thoughts with Democrats as President Trump prepared to address Congress. She advised them to “let him stew in his own juice.” In an interview, she emphasized that any visible disagreement during the speech would only fuel political tension and suggested they stay calm and not give Trump more material to manipulate.

Trump’s address is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. It’s his first major speech before Congress since he returned to office in January. While similar to a State of the Union, it won’t carry that title since he hasn’t been in the White House for a year.

During the speech, Trump is expected to promote his “Make America Great Again” agenda and discuss upcoming priorities for his administration. He hinted at a big message coming in a post on Truth Social, saying, “TOMORROW NIGHT WILL BE BIG. I WILL TELL IT LIKE IT IS!”

In her advice to fellow Democrats, Pelosi noted that only those from secure electoral districts should make bold statements regarding Trump’s policies. She recommended that those in tight races focus more on their local issues instead of adding to the national debate about Trump.

Reflecting on a past incident during Trump’s 2020 State of the Union address, Pelosi shared her reasoning behind tearing up the speech in front of the cameras. She explained that she found every page filled with untruths and decided to make a statement at that moment. “Unless you have something that is a moment,” she stated, referring to the significance of her action.

Pelosi urged her party to concentrate on the upcoming midterm elections in 2026 rather than dwelling on Trump’s presidency. She stressed the importance of this fall for Democratic support, pointing out that winning just three more seats could significantly change the balance of power. “This fall is everything,” she said, indicating that the focus should be on building support for the future.

In a rapidly changing political environment, Pelosi’s insights highlight the need for strategy and unity among Democrats as they navigate the challenges ahead.
